I have a lot to say about design and will be "saying" more in the near future. I think we have enough design blogs, so I was not trying to make another, but I guess I did. I only hope to give you a bit of insight into what kind of a designer I am (because there are so many kinds) and some background of the design work I deliver. Here is a start... Beyond ORK Design.

My name is Jenny, I'm a graphic designer/visual communicator/ creative problem solver in Chicago, IL. ORK Design is my freelance design company, Beyond ORK serves as an extension of that site. This is not an attempt to share myself with the world wide web, although other topics beyond design will invaraibly leak in. As it is a work in progress, come back often if something here looks interesting to you. And if you are looking for a real design blog, please visit designobserver.com.

Designers are problem solvers from birth.

Because our greatest problem to solve today is saving our earth, designers are (and should be) committed to the solutions that, I believe, will one day return humans to their proper place in the great ecosystem of all living things.

Print is not dead, nor is it dying.

Is this hypocritical, remarking on saving the earth and then saying print, i.e. paper-based production stay strong? Well, our first step is hypocrisy. But no it's not hypocritical, because print relies on paper only in the present. In the future, we will find a new paper, a new print method, and new way to upcycle. But now, I'll tell you why print will always thrive.

If design:information as architecture:space – each for the masses, or for pieces of the masses, to be used, consumed, experienced by the many not the few – than shouldn't we offer design tours through The Great design solutions of our history? Design is experiential, people! Just like architecture.
